It is a sacred lake revered by the Hindus. It is said that no pilgrimage is complete without a dip in the holy lake of Pushkar. Surrounded by 52 bathing Ghats, it is believed that all the physical and spiritual evils disappear just by having a dip in the Lake. Moreover, the lake is embraced by more than 500 Hindu temples and it is protected by the mountains of the Aravali hills which surround it as a guard.

Jagatpita Brahma Temple

One of the most prominent temples of India, the Brahma temple is crowded by a mob of devotees all year round. The structure of the temple dates back to the 14th century. The temple is visited by even more devotees on the Kartik Poornima, which is thought to be an auspicious occasion to pay obeisance.

Varaha Temple

Named after another incarnation of Lord Vishnu, the temple was built in the 12th century. It was destroyed by Emperor Aurangzeb but was rebuilt and opened for the devotees.

Man Mahal

Named after and built by Man Singh, the Man Mahal is one of the prime tourism spots of Pushkar. A stunning example of Rajasthani architecture, the palace is the evidence of the lavish living style of the monarchs of India. The Lake is clearly visible from the palace and offers an overwhelming view to the sight. The good news is that the palace has now been converted into a hotel and tourists can choose to stay in it if the budget allows.
